Monitoring barking dogs behaviour

Audio Monitor

Audio Monitor

The Audio Monitor listens for sounds that go above the preset threshold level. Any sound that exceeds this threshold is then analysed against the selected fingerprints. If a match is found the detection is stored and the time of the last positive detection is displayed. Before using the audio monitor you must have set up the dogs to be monitored and created fingerprints for those dogs.

Getting Started

  1. Select the dog that you want to listen for.

  2. Select/deselect the fingerprints you want to use for the identification.

  3. Adjust the score threshold to a suitable level. Remember that anything less than 5 is considered a match and anything above 7 is unlikely to be a match. Note that if the threshold is set too high the number of false positives will increase. False positives are sounds that are analysed as being a match when in fact they are not a match.

  4. Set the detection threshold level by moving the arrow to the required sound level. This is the level above which a sound is analysed. If this is set too low than the system will try analysing the incoming sound continuously which will slow the system down. If it is set too high the monitor will never analyse any sounds as the level threshold is never reached.

  5. The Record button will start the monitor running. Once running if the button is pressed again the monitor will stop. If the system is still analysing data this can take a few moments to complete.
